Assignments for week of September 2nd
Hey everyone,
We hope you enjoyed the gas density experiments. My personal favorite was when we had the bubbles floating above the CO2 - Carbon Dioxide - or Dry Ice Gas.
The assignments for this week are -
OYO problems 1.15 and 1.16 (in the chapter)
Review Questions for Module 1 (in the binder)
Practice Problems in Module 1 (in the binder)
Read pages 30 - 45
We will be sending home the Test for Chapter One to be done at home. Remember to take this without notes. We have a class goal of getting 80% on the tests. When we make it we will have a class trip to Subzero to get ice cream made with Liquid Nitrogen.
We are looking for the test packet! Anyone who has one and the Solutions manual. Please let us know if you have one and if possible get it to us to borrow briefly.
Next week Joseph Riches will be sharing his super cool chemistry video with us.
John's video on crushing 55 gallon drums was amazing this week. If you bring empty soda cans next week then we'll crush them at the end of class.
Bonus Question (answer must be in written format) - How do we get Helium? Extra Bonus Questions - Why is there a shortage? Who discovered it? Who discovered that your voice goes squeaky when you breath it in? Are there any side effects from breathing it?

Hi Everyone - Welcome to Polar Star Chemistry!
You will want to follow this blog as we will be posting assignments and crazy stuff on here for you every week.
You will also be able to post your own comments, thoughts and videos of experiments that did not fail.
The first assignment for this class which must be completed before coming to class is .....
Watch these two videos - Crash Course Chemistry #1 and Crash Course Chemistry #2
Find - A YouTube video on chemistry of your own. Submit your request for the one you liked the best to Brother Hampton at shampton9@msn.com . You will have an opportunity to share it with all of us later on in the year. (If I were you - I would submit more than one as the first one to turn in a video will get to share it and you'll want to have a couple to choose from.)
We will be meeting on Tuesday, August 26th at 4:30 at the Hampton home.
Bro. & Sis. Hampton
